Lee Sinnott this morning confirmed rumours linking the club with Barnsley's 21-year-old midfielder, Simon Heslop.

The Vale boss said: "We have registered an interest in the Simon, but as yet we haven't spoken to the player."

The first team squad traveled down to Uxbridge at 7.30 this morning to continue theier pre-season work with a visit to the R.A.F. camp there, but the manager remained at Vale Park.

He said: "I'm not sure when I will join them as there is still plenty to be done here. We are still trying to bring a couple of players in."
