LATEST SIGNING
Lee Sinnott today added Steve Thompson to his list of new signings as he continues to build for life in League Two next season.
Signed from Middlesbrough, the 19-year-old striker impressed the Vale boss recently when he turned out for Vale reserves side as a trialist.
The Vale boss said: "We observed him in the two games he played for us and we liked what we saw. He has come from a good club and has had a good grounding there.
"He is 19 years old. We do have things in the pipeline for bringing in experienced players as well, but you go with your gut feeling.
"For me, he is one of those who if we hadn't have taken him, he could have turned up somewhere else and do well, then people will ask why we didn't have a little punt on him.
"I think he showed in the two reserve games what he is about. He is a hard working player and he has an eye for goal and I think he will cause people problems - he has that type of mentality.
"It's an opportunity for him and he strikes me as a young man who is ready, willing and able to grab that opportunity, and that is the type of player we want pulling the Port Vale shirt on."
The player himself is certainly up for the challenge and after signing early this afternoon said: "I would like to thank them for bringing me here and giving me a chance - hopefully I can repay them by scoring a few goals and help take the club back where they belong.

"It's a nice big pitch and hopefully I will be able to find some space and get the chance to show the fans what I can do and help the club climb up the table.
"I came here and played in a couple of games and found everybody friendly here. It is a good set up and Vale are a big club with ambitions to go back up. Hopefully I can get amongst the goals and help them do that."
