Martin Foyle has swooped to add 19-year-old Dave McGoldrick to his squad to fill the void left by the departure of Akpo Sodje to Sheffield Wednesday.

McGoldrick will join up with the squad in Bournemouth and will be eligible to play in Saturday's game at the Fitness First Stadium once documentation has been completed.

Martin Foyle said: "I am delighted to get him in. He has pace and he is exactly what we need right now.

"We managed to beat off competition from Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Luton Town which is great for us. He will be with us on loan up until the New Year."

Bournemouth will know all about McGoldrick, who netted six goals in twelve appearances for the Cherries whilst on loan there last season.

The former Notts County trainee joined the Saints and was soon loaned back to the Meadow Lane club before joining Bournemouth for two months at the back end of last season.

Powerfully built with an assured touch, he can finish and create chances and will help form an ideal link between the midfield and forwards.

His goal scoring record speaks for itself. The season before last he netted an impressive 44 goals for Southampton Reserves and Under 18s, including a hat trick in the play-off final which saw Southampton beat Aston Villa 3-2.
